Obituary
Catherine J. (Sweeney) Prendergast, 89, died peacefully on Monday, December 14, 2020. Born in Philadelphia, PA to the late John and Beatrice (Woods) Sweeney, she was a longtime Wilbraham resident of 65 years. She was a faithful communicant of St. Cecilia Church and an active member of their Women’s Club. An avid golfer, she also loved to spend her time gardening. She was predeceased by her husband William K. Prendergast in 2012 and her son Sean P. Prendergast in 2013. Cathy is survived by her daughter Kate Fernandes and her husband Bill of Wilbraham, her son Kevin Prendergast of West Berlin, NJ, her sister Theresa Albright of FL, seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Visitation will be held on Friday, December 18th from 4-7 PM at Wilbraham Funeral Home, 2551 Boston Rd., Wilbraham (masks and social distancing will be required and visitors are asked to limit their time at the funeral home to allow for others to visit with the family). Family and friends may meet for Cathy’s Funeral Mass on Saturday at 10 AM at St. Cecilia Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Cecilia Church HOPE Ministries, 42 Main St., Wilbraham, MA 01095.
