Obituary
Caryl Louise MacLeod died on April 8, 2018 at the age of 79. Caryl was the daughter of Harry and Rachel Ennis, and had a sister, Dottie. Carol was born in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Her father was a career Army officer and the family lived at many Army bases in the US and Japan. When Mr. Ennis left the Army, the family moved to Dallas where many of their friends and relatives had moved to get away from cold, Midwest winters. In Dallas Caryl enrolled at Southern Methodist University where she graduated with Honors. At SMU she met and married Harry MacLeod. Dow Jones, the company Harry had worked for while in college, transferred him to New York City. In New York, Caryl worked for Macy’s, Gimbel’s and Bonwit-Teller Department Stores where she was in charge of training new employees. Caryl and Harry loved going to musical comedies, plays and ballets as well as to the Metropolitan Museum of Art. From New York Caryl and Harry moved to Wilbraham, MA and quickly fell in love with New England. In Wilbraham Caryl began painting watercolors and enjoyed it. She and fellow artists formed the Wilbraham Art League, which put on art shows in Wilbraham and surrounding towns. Caryl liked skiing and she and Harry skied at ski areas all over New England as well as Colorado and Western Canada. A Graveside Service will be held Thursday at 11am in Glendale Cemetery. Wilbraham Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
