Former longtime Hampden resident, Carroll M. Willey, 91, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 26, 2023. Born in Stafford Springs, CT to the late Carroll A. and Lora (Gottsche) Willey. Carroll was a graduate of Trade High School and Western New England College. Carroll served in the US Army from 1952-1954. For his professional career he was an apprentice pattern maker for Nicholas Pattern Works, he also worked at Hampden Brass before starting his career as a manufacturing engineer for Hamilton Standard. Carroll was an active member of his community; a Sunday School teacher for the Federated Community Church of Hampden and coached town baseball, basketball and hockey teams. He is survived by his beloved wife of 70 years Marcia (Burleigh) Willey, their three sons; Marc Willey and his partner Danielle Harris of Lakewood, CA, Todd Willey of Stafford Springs, CT and Ryan Willey and his wife Sherri (McConnell) Willey of Amherst, two grandchildren; Gordon Willey, his wife Sarah Groleau and Hannah Willey; great grandchildren; Tessa and Henry Willey. A private family burial will take place in Old Cemetery, Hampden. Wilbraham Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one’s choice.
