Carmino Enrico Daniele, age 86, died peacefully on Wednesday, September 4, 2024 at Jewish Geriatric Services in Longmeadow with his loving family by his side. Born in Springfield in a home that sat where the current Basketball Hall of Fame now stands, Carm was very proud of his Italian American heritage and the South End Neighborhood where he spent his childhood.
When he was eight years old Carm’s family moved to West Springfield. They had a large garden and Carm spent many hours tending to it even into adulthood. He often could be found delivering his harvest to friends and relatives.
Like his father, Carm was an avid hunter. He shared his joy of hunting with his brother Carlo and son Michael. He also enjoyed fishing and organized many trips to Lake Ontario.
He was honored to have served in the United States Army where he traveled to Italy and Germany, Carm was a gravure engraver for Westvaco for 44 years until his retirement.
Carm will be sadly missed by his wife of 58 years, Judith (Davignon) Daniele, their children; Michael Daniele and his partner Erica Gonzalez, Susan Prairie and her husband Jeffrey, all of Wilbraham, and three cherished grandchildren; Michael and his partner Alison Lubrino, Richard and Ann Marie Prairie. He also leaves his siblings; Gerald Daniele of Springfield, Carlo Daniele and his wife Patty of Wilbraham and Lucy Daniele of Longmeadow, as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Carm was predeceased by his sister; Louise Gianfelice and her husband James, his sister Anna (Nita) Daniele, his sister-in-law Cynthia Daniele and his niece Elizabeth Gianfelice..
Visitation will be held on Friday from 4-7PM at Wilbraham Funeral Home, 2551 Boston Rd., Wilbraham. Family and friends may meet for Carmino’s Funeral Mass on Saturday at 12:00 Noon at St. Cecilia Church, 42 Main St., Wilbraham. Burial with Military Honors will be held on Friday, September 13th at 3:00 PM at MA Veterans’ Memorial Cemetery, 1390 Main St., Agawam. In appreciation of the loving care Carm received, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to JGS Lifecare Development Office (activities department), 770 Converse Street, Longmeadow, MA 01106.
