Carl B. Sundberg

Carl Bernie Sundberg, 86, a longtime Wilbraham resident, died on November 11th at Mercy Medical Center. Born in Torrington, CT, he was an Army Veteran of the Korean Conflict. He attended Bridgeport University for Industrial Design and was a Designer and Master Model Maker for International Silver Co. and the former Art Director at US Envelope. Carl owned and operated Sun Assoc., Sundberg Castings and Marketing Design Consultants. He was an award winning and noted sculptor, designer, inventor, painter displaying artwork and sculptures throughout Western MA and CT, some of which include; Bust of Scibelli in Springfield, Faith, Hope, Love Sculpture in West Springfield, Christmas Rose Plate, 12 Days of Christmas for International Silver, Holy Family Sculpture, Tree of Life and Confessional Plaque at St. Cecilia�s Church. Carl was a longtime parishioner of St. Cecilia�s Church where he and his wife served as Eucharistic Ministers and he taught CCD classes. He also coached youth basketball and baseball and continued to share his knowledge and advice and inspired his grandchildren often. He was predeceased by his parents K. Bernhard and Karin (Nilsson) Sundberg, his sisters; Sonja Wright, Bernice Nurczyk and niece Jill Sundberg. He leaves his wife of 62 years Marcella (Logan) Sundberg, four children; Mark Sundberg and his wife Claire, Carol Ouellette and her husband Reid, Brian Sundberg and wife Annette and Susan Hulbert and husband Wendell, 14 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, brother Jack Sundberg and his wife Maryalice and many nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 17th from 4-7 pm at Wilbraham Funeral Home, 2551 Boston Rd., Wilbraham. Family and friends may meet for Carl�s Funeral Mass on Wednesday at 11:00 am at St. Cecilia�s Church, 42 Main St., Wilbraham. Burial will follow in Adams Cemetery.
