Barbara (Kingsbury) Weake, 94, died at Quaboag Rehab & Skilled Care Center on September 16, 2023 surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Springfield, MA to the late Robert E. and Marguerita (Robbins) Kingsbury on February 13, 1929. She was a graduate of Classical High School and New Britain General Hospital with a Nursing degree. She worked at Wesson Women’s (Labor and Delivery) then for the Red Cross Blood Mobile. She was a longtime resident of East Longmeadow, MA where she and her 1st husband, Fred Silloway, raised their 4 children. She was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in that town, Prince of Peace in N. Largo, FL and in her later years, Christ Community Church, Belchertown, MA where she lived with her daughter, Beth, her caretaker.
In her retirement years, Barbara and her husband John Weake, traveled this country extensively in their motorhome; seeing all but a few states. They loved those years together and regaled many a story of their on-the-road shenanigans. She was a member of Eastern Star, Corona Chapter #205 in East Longmeadow, MA and Daughters of the Nile, Ahlem Temple #84. She and her husband Jack, who was a Master Mason and Shriner, were very involved in masonic organizations for years.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, John Weake, her brother, John Kingsbury, her sister, Shirley Jacobson and husband Norman, her sons, Mark Silloway and Jeffrey Weake, son-in-law Stephen Joseph along with her first husband Fred Silloway. She is survived by her son and his wife David & Norma Silloway of Ware, MA, 3 daughters; Beth Wade, Belchertown, MA, Lynne Livingston and her husband Robert, Addison, VT, Wendy Joseph (Stephen), daughter-in-law Karen Weake (Jeffrey) and her much loved “other” son, Jonathan Wade, 12 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, her sister-in-law, Anne Kingsbury, 5 nephews and 1 niece.
Barbara’s Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, October 7th at 12:00 Noon at Wilbraham Funeral Home, 2551 Boston Rd., Wilbraham. Visitation will precede the Service from 11:00 AM – 12:00 Noon.
