Barbara A. Szydlowski

Barbara (Zagraniczny) Szydlowski, 89, died peacefully on January 8, 2025 at Life Care Center of Wilbraham. Born in Palmer to the late Frank and Aniela (Szczurek) Zagraniczny, she was a longtime Wilbraham resident and communicant of Saint Cecilia Church. Barbara was educated at Palmer High School and attended Bay Path Community College. She was employed at Mass Mutual for 17 years prior to her retirement. Barbara, Bacie to her grandchildren, spent many hours caring for them and dancing with Richie at local Polish picnics. In her later years she especially enjoyed collecting recipes and cookbooks.

Barbara was predeceased by her beloved husband of 65 years, Richard M. Szydlowski, in May, 2020. She is survived by her three children, Mark S. Szydlowski and Ruth Albanese of Eastham, MA, daughter-in law, Joanne Delaney Szydlowski of Wilbraham, MA, Christine B. Szydlowski of East Longmeadow, MA and Martin F. Szydlowski and Donna M. Trout of Brunswick, ME, her beloved grandchildren, Kait Szydlowski and Andy Fellows of Hoboken, NJ; Michael and Jess (Howe) Szydlowski of Long Island, NY, Matthew Szydlowski of North Conway, NH, Mark Trout Dumond and Kara J. Dumond of Bowdoinham, ME and her two great grandchildren Auggie and Isla who brought tremendous joy to her life. Visitation will be held on Saturday, January 11th from 8:30 – 10 AM followed by a Prayer Service at 10 AM at the Wilbraham Funeral Home, 2551 Boston Rd., Wilbraham. Burial will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Springfield. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the American Heart Association, PO Box 840692, Dallas, TX 75284-0692, the American Diabetes Association, PO Box 7023, Merrifield, VA 22116-7023, or a charity of your choice. The Szydlowski family would like to express their gratitude to healthcare professionals, nurses and aides at Life Care Center of Wilbraham and Beacon Hospice for the kindness and care shown to Barbara.
