Obituary
Barbara Ann (MacCarlie) Driscoll, 91, passed away on June 25, 2022. Born on February 14, 1931, in Bucksport, ME, she was the daughter of the late Archie Thomas and Hope Jane (McKinney) MacCarlie. Barb spent her early years in Bucksport and at the Jordan House in Ellsworth, ME, where she enjoyed going to the movie theater, vacationing at Marlboro Beach, and spending time at her father’s grocery store where her love for candy and all things sweet began. Barbara attended Pine Street School prior to Ellsworth High School, where she graduated in 1948. She completed two years at Maine Central Institute (MCI) before meeting her husband, John Patrick “Jack” Driscoll, as a boarder at the Jordan House. After having married, Jack and Barb moved from Skowhegan, ME, to the Forest Park section of Springfield and finally resided for many happy years in Wilbraham before Jack’s passing in 2011. She enjoyed people-watching in her rocking chair on the front porch, taking walks along Main Street with her hands held behind her back, sitting beside the pool entertaining guests, trips to the Big Y, cooking for her family, and always offering a long list of food and drink to visitors. In addition to her parents and her husband, Jack, she was predeceased by her infant brother, John C. MacCarlie. She leaves behind three children; John Driscoll Sr. (his wife, Andrea) of East Longmeadow, Carol (Driscoll) Allard (her husband, Tom) of Sixteen Acres, and Margaret (Driscoll) Fitzpatrick (her husband, Mark) of East Longmeadow. She also leaves behind her grandchildren; John Driscoll Jr. (his wife, Meghan), Mary (Driscoll) Johnson (her husband, Mike), Daniel Allard, Carrie Allard, Jennifer Allard, and John Fitzpatrick, along with two great-grandchildren, Zary and Mikey Johnson. Additionally, Barb leaves behind cousins, several nieces, nephews, and friends; notably the Judd and Gallagher families, as well as multiple neighbors and friends she made throughout her life. Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 30th from 4:00 - 7:00 PM at Wilbraham Funeral Home, 2551 Boston Rd., Wilbraham. Family and friends may meet for Barbara’s Funeral Mass on Friday, July 1st at 10:30 AM at St. Michael’s Church, 128 Maple St., East Longmeadow. Committal Service will be private and at the convenience of the family at the Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Agawam.
