Obituary
Barbara (Hickey) Smith-Chaffee, 81, died peacefully on Saturday, October 24, 2020, at East Longmeadow Skilled Nursing Center. Born in Springfield to the late Robert and Barbara (Leonard) Hickey, she worked as a CNA at the former Mediplex Nursing Home in East Longmeadow and previously at Buxton. Barbara was predeceased by her husband Bruce Chaffee in 2018 and her brother and sister in law Robert Hickey, Jr. and Barbara Hickey. She is survived by her four children: Deborah C. Spaulding and her husband Edward C. Bushey of Springfield, Richard Joubert and his wife Kathy Fortin of Springfield, Daniel Joubert of Springfield and Vincent Joubert and his wife Denise of Agawam. She also leaves two brothers, Leonard Hickey and his wife Theresa of Wilbraham and George Scheurer and his wife Carol of Easthampton. She is survived by nine grandchildren: Christine Murdock, Jamie, Laura and Sheri Spaulding, Travis, Vincent, Zackary, Nick and Adam Joubert and 18 great grandchildren. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, October 27 from 4-6PM concluding with a Funeral Service at 6PM at Wilbraham Funeral Home, 2551 Boston Rd., Wilbraham. Burial will be held privately. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 309 Waverley Oaks Road, Waltham, MA 02452.
