April 18, 1926 — January 19, 2025

Anne E. (Alexander) Smith, 98, died peacefully on Sunday, January 19, 2025 surrounded by her children. Born in Cambridge, MA to the late Thomas and Eliza (Sheppard) Alexander, and raised in Belmont, she was a longtime resident of Springfield and Wilbraham.
As a young wife and mother, Anne’s life centered around family, friends and neighbors, and Foster Memorial Church, where she was an active participant in every aspect of church life. At the age of 42, she returned to her interrupted career in the banking world, a position she loved, at which she was highly accomplished, and where she made deep connections with the community. Anne and her husband, Ed, spent many happy summers with family and friends at their cottage on Newfound Lake, NH.
In addition to her parents, Anne was also predeceased by her beloved husband Edward Smith, her brother Thomas and sister Ellen. She is survived by her three devoted children; Roberta Tobin (George “Skip”), Janice Smith and Edward Smith (Karen) and four cherished grandchildren; Travis, Leah, Lindsay and Jacob. Anne’s Memorial Service will be held on March 29, 2025 at 11:00 am at Foster Memorial Church in Springfield. Wilbraham Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Foster Memorial Church, 1791 Wilbraham Road., Springfield, MA 01119.
