Obituary
Anita (Ghiandoni) Black, 100, died peacefully on Saturday, June 19, 2021 at Baystate Medical Center. Born in Springfield, she was the daughter of the late Getulio and Eugenia (Ugolini) Ghiandoni. Anita moved to East Longmeadow in 1984 and moved to Wellington of Springfield in 2017. She retired from Mass Mutual after 13 years in Employee Benefits/Personnel. Previously she worked for the former Van Norman Co. in Springfield and Rutgers University Graduate School of Social Work in New Brunswick, NJ. A parishioner of St. Michael’s Church, she was a vibrant member of her community, participating in their former Women’s Club and the former Young at Heart Club and the East Longmeadow Senior Center Friendship Club. She was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and friend to everyone she came in contact with. During her lifetime, she enjoyed doing various craftwork, playing cards, Bingo and Mah Jongg, and visiting the casinos. She was an avid sports fan, loved the Red Sox and Patriots. Anita was predeceased by her husband, Norman Black, and two sisters, Elsa Fronzi and Gemma Paschetto. She leaves her daughter Ellen Adamski of Loveland, Ohio, her son, Robert Black and his partner, Laurie Rosen of East Longmeadow, her grandson Benjamin Black, several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews, great-great nieces and great-great nephews. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 23rd from 9:00 – 10:00 AM at Wilbraham Funeral Home, 2551 Boston Rd., Wilbraham, followed by her Funeral Mass at 11:30 AM at St. Michael’s Church. Burial will follow in St. Michael’s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Michael’s Church, 128 Maple St., East Longmeadow, MA 01028.
