Albert Vincent Valentini

Albert V. Valentini, 86, passed away peacefully on July 29, 2016 at Wingate Nursing Home of Springfield. He was cared for with the highest level of kindness and compassion by their dedicated staff. Albert was born to the late Mary (Lalli) and Albert C. Valentini. A lifelong resident of Springfield, he spent his childhood in the Forest Park section of his beloved city. He was a 1948 graduate of Technical High School and received his Bachelor�s Degree in business from Western New England University where he continued to be an active member of the Alumni. His first job was a caddy at Franconia Golf Course. He then worked with his dad at Victory Shoe Repair on White Street. Albert proudly served his country in the United States Navy on a destroyer stationed in Greenland from 1950-1954. He also worked at US Envelope and National Cash Register. He was well respected in the community for his 40 year career as a sales executive at the former Bassette Printing Company. An avid golfer, Albert was a longtime member of the Ludlow Country Club. He was a board member and past president of both the Springfield Aqualinas and the Springfield Exchange Club. Albert was also a member of the Springfield Lodge of Elks #61 on Tiffany Street. He volunteered his time as an Advocate for the elderly after his retirement. Family meant the world to Albert. He leaves his loving wife of 65 years Helen (Obrzut), his caring daughter Dianne Normand and her husband Donald. Albert was predeceased by his beautiful daughter Donna Maroney in 2008 and her husband Timothy Maroney in 2009. He leaves his six grandchildren; Vincent Normand, Anthony Normand and his wife Hsinpei, Jackelyn Normand, Daniel Maroney, Sam Maroney and Michael Normand, and his great grandchildren Noah and Elizabeth Normand. He is also survived by his sisters Marianne Samble and Linda Valentini of Springfield, his brother Vincent Valentini and his wife Angela of Virginia Beach, VA and his sister in law Janice Valentini of Springfield. His brother Thomas Valentini predeceased him in 2009 and his brother in law Ted Samble in 2013. He also leaves many loving nieces and nephews. A burial at St. Michael�s Cemetery in Springfield will be private and at the convenience of the family. Donations in Albert�s memory may be made to Shriners Hospital for Children, 516 Carew St., Springfield, MA 01104 or to the Gray House, 22 Sheldon St., Springfield, MA 01107.
