Adina V. (Ackerman) Johnson, 96, died peacefully on February 22, 2017 at Wingate at Hampden. Born in Springfield on Nov. 11, 1920, she lived most of her life in Hampden. She was a member of the Hampden Federated Community Church for many years as well as their Youth Guild and President of the Ladies Aid Society. A Charter Member of the Hampden Historical Society, Dina served as Director of the Friends of Hampden Seniors, was a member of the Hampden Scantic Senior Club and the Hampden Senior Pitch Club. In her early years, she was a Cub Scout Leader, taught Sunday School and sang in the church choir. Dina worked at the Springfield Armory in the Personnel Department. During World War II, she worked in Washington DC for the Veterans� Administration in the Hospital Supply Dept. After the war, she returned to Hampden and worked at Mass Mutual Life Insurance Co. and retired from the Hampden Public Library. Dina was the daughter of the late Bernard and Emma (Winell) Ackerman, beloved wife of the late Walter A. Johnson, cherished mother of Karen W. Quiet and her husband Wayne of Manchester, NH and David B. Johnson and his wife Beth of Haymarket, VA, caring grandmother to Donald W. and Katelyn L. Quiet and Laura C. and David B. Johnson, Jr. Family and friends may gather for Dina�s Funeral Service on Saturday, May 13th at 11:00 am at Hampden Federated Community Church.
