A celebration of life, 103 years! Adella A (Szlosek) Andre, went to be with the Lord on September 18, 2025 surrounded by her loving family and friends.
Born in Ludlow, MA she grew up in Indian Orchard, MA, a town she loved. She was born to the late Stephen and Sophia (Chwalek) Szlosek. Adella was predeceased by her loving husband of 63 years, Manuel Andre, in 2008 and siblings; Milton, Charles, Jennifer, Sophie, Stanley and John. During WWII she helped the war effort by working at the Springfield Armory assembling guns and, after the war, disassembling them. She put aside her dream of a nursing career to instead care for the needs of her many family members. As a homemaker, she filled her home with love and encouragement, so much so, that neighborhood kids would stop by on their way to school for an extra snack, have their hair combed and be sent off with a hug and kind words. She was known for her “homemade” salad dressing, seasoned salt, root beer, oversized cookies and raspberry cordial. She loved birds, the changing seasons, flower gardens, family gatherings, cheesecake, bingo, tag sales and Bethlehem’s Torchbearer’s bible studies.
Her children; Dan (wife Deb Andre) and Nancy (husband Kevin Cox) of Wilbraham, will remember her best for the wonderful childhood she gave them including a love for God and His creation. Until reunited, she leaves four grandchildren, Becky and Mandy Andre of Wilbraham, Kevin O. Cox and wife Ali of Jersey City, NJ and Andrea and husband Jay Sergi of Aberdeen, MD, 9 great grandchildren; Kent, Joey, Eleanor, Olney, Marty, Brayleigh, Justin, Gianna and Funzi.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, Oct. 11th from 9-10 am at Wilbraham Funeral Home, 2551 Boston Rd., Wilbraham, concluding with a Remembrance Service at 10am. Burial will follow in St. Aloysius Cemetery in Indian Orchard.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke, Attn: Financial Management Branch for Trigeminal Neuralgia Research, 6001 Executive Blvd, 5th Floor, North Bethesda, MD 20892-9531 or to Beacon Hospice, 815 Worcester St., Springfield, MA 01151.
