Vivian (Geywitz) Chapin died at home July 12. Born and raised in New Jersey, she briefly attended Pennsylvania State University. There she met and married a graduate student, Earl Chapin. They remained together until his death more than fifty years later.
An active weaver and past president of the Springfield Weavers Guild, in 1984 she completed her BS degree at the University of Massachusetts in textiles, more than forty years after she originally started. She was also a long time member of the Wilbraham United Church until illness prevented her regular attendance.
She leaves behind three sons, Robert Chapin of New Jersey, Paul Chapin of Massachusetts, Peter Chapin of Vermont and a granddaughter, Hillary Okun of Massachusetts. Services will be private. Wilbraham Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
