On June 25, 2019 Ron McCarthy passed away peacefully at his home. Ron was born in Shelburne Falls, MA and lived there until he was 7 and his family relocated to Trenton, NJ where he lived until he married and raised his family in Pittsfield, Ma then later Springfield, MA where he spent his retired years. Ron had a love and career of drumming as well as cooking. It was his passion of cooking that led to his opening Mac's Burgers and Hot Dog Charlie's at the then Bay State West Tower. His love of his Irish heritage and passion for music brought him joy especially as drummer in his Kiltie Band with his son Clancy. He is predeceased by his parents Gerry and Annabelle (Hayes) McCarthy, siblings Billy, Peggie, Bobby, Mike and Daniel McCarthy. He is survived by his brother Joe McCarthy and his wife Ann McCarthy of Greenfield MA, twin sister Colleen McCarthy Walker and her husband Joe Walker of Springfield MA, his children Kelly McCarthy of Westfield MA, Sean McCarthy of AZ and Clancy McCarthy of Springfield MA, and his grandsons Michael McCarthy and Matthew Dunbar. As well as his favorite niece Shelly Walker Coville and her family and many more cousins, nieces and nephews he adored and who will miss his magic tricks and constant shenanigans! As a veteran of the US Air Force, Ron will be laid to rest after a Military Committal Service at the MA Veterans' Memorial Cemetery, 1390 Main St., Agawam, on Wednesday July 3, 2019 at 3pm. There will be a private Celebration of his life held at a later date.
