Robert Norman Fisher, 85 died peacefully on Tuesday, October 9, 2018 at home. Born in Springfield to the late George D. and Hazel (Thresher) Fisher, he was a 1952 graduate of Technical High School. He served proudly in the Army Infantry, 25th regiment, “Lightning Division” in the Korean War. Bob was a self-employed plumber for over 60 years and continued to work until only recently. Bob was a member of the Hampden Volunteer Fire Department for many years and was a lifelong member of the Hampden Federated Church. Bob had many interests through his life including snowmobile racing and watching his sons racing motorcycles, snowmobiles and go-karts. Bob was an avid remote control model airplane flyer and builder and a member of the Northern Connecticut Radio Control Club and Pioneer Valley Radio Control Club.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 61 years Edna (Bennett) Fisher, their three sons: Andrew Fisher and Beth Martin of Enfield, CT, Matthew Fisher and his wife Diane and Kenneth Fisher and fiancé Sybil LaFlamme, all of Hampden, four grandchildren: Tyler, Brittany, Tanner and Jennifer Fisher and one great grandson Bryce Fisher. Visitation will be held on Friday, October 19th from 5:00 – 7:00 pm at Wilbraham Funeral Home, 2551 Boston Rd., Wilbraham. Bob’s Funeral will be Saturday, October 20th at 11:00 am at Hampden Federated Church followed by burial with Military Honors in Prospect Hill Cemetery, Hampden. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Dakin Humane Society, PO Box 6307, Springfield, MA 01101-6307 or to Hampden Federated Church, 590 Main St., PO Box 246, Hampden, MA 01036.
