Sergeant Mark A. Ouimet, 51, of the Hampden County Sheriff’s Dept. died on Monday, April 2, 2018, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Springfield to the late Richard and Margaret (Suprena) Ouimet, he was a graduate of Cathedral High School, class of 1984, and served his country proudly as a U. S. Marine. Mark was appointed Head of Hampden County Sheriff’s Dept. K-9 Unit in May of 2017. He served his brother officers as IBCO #248 President and was captain of the Sheriff’s Dept. Hockey Team. Awarded numerous Distinguished Service and Professional Excellence Awards during his over 20 year career, he was certified in Counter-Terrorism, Explosive & Bomb Threats Recognition, Firearms Instruction, Fire Safety and Tactical EMS Training. Mark was a communicant of St. Cecilia’s Church, a youth baseball and soccer coach and was a weekly volunteer at the Thomas J. O’Connor Animal Shelter. He is survived by his beloved wife Tracie (Reome) Ouimet, their two cherished sons Joshua Ouimet of Wilbraham and Alexander Ouimet of Camp Pendleton, CA, a brother Kevin Ouimet and his wife Nid of Orting, WA, two sisters, Kathleen Ouimet and Michele Ouimet-Rooke, both of Springfield, as well as several nieces, nephews and many friends. He will also be sadly missed by his K-9 partner Dalka and his loyal pups Harvey and Luce. Visitation will be held on Friday, April 6th from 2:00 pm – 7:00 pm at St. Cecilia Church, 42 Main St., Wilbraham. Family and friends may gather for Mark’s Funeral Mass on Saturday at 10:00 am at St. Cecilia’s Church. Burial with Military Honors will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Chicopee.
