John Robert Chase, Sr., known to friends as “Jack”, 79, died peacefully, Tuesday, April 16, 2019, with his family by his side. Born in Attleboro, Massachusetts, he was the son of the late Thomas M.D. Chase and Thelma E. (Grewcock) Chase. He was a graduate of Barrington High School in Barrington, Rhode Island. After earning his degree from the University of Rhode Island in Kingston, Rhode Island he served in the Army, retiring a Captain.
He married Dorothy M. Hayes in Fairfield, Connecticut in 1966. John worked for Aetna Life and Casualty Insurance Company in Bridgeport, Connecticut, Syracuse, New York and Boston Massachusetts. After moving to Wilbraham, Massachusetts in 1977, he worked for Palmer, Goodell & Keeney Insurance Agency and Haberman Insurance Company both in Springfield, Massachusetts. In his spare time John helped coach youth soccer for the Pioneer Valley Jr. Soccer League. During his retirement he worked part time for Napa Auto Parts. John enjoyed summers on Leetes Island, Guilford, Connecticut with his family, boating and fishing on Long Island Sound. He was a very avid gardener and enjoyed working on cars.
John was predeceased by his sister, Priscilla A. DuVally of Seekonk, Massachusetts. He leaves his wife Dorothy M. (Hayes) Chase, son John R. Chase, Jr., daughter Kimberly H. (Chase) Beaudry and beloved granddaughter Megan E. Beaudry, all of Wilbraham, dear friend Seymour Frankel, and many cousins, nieces and nephews, and Mike.
At his request there were no calling hours and burial was at Massachusetts Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Agawam, Massachusetts.
