Francis S. Pychewicz, 84, of Wilbraham died peacefully on Wednesday, January 24, 2018. Born in 1934, Francis grew up in Palmer and graduated from the town’s high school before completing a Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering at UMass Amherst in 1956. Francis spent his engineering career at Monsanto Chemical Company’s Bircham Bend Plant in Indian Orchard. After retirement from Monsanto, he founded his own engineering consulting firm, Bulldog Engineering. Francis invested countless hours serving the community as a leader of the Minnechaug High School Scholarship Foundation for over 30 years. He actively participated in town meetings as a member of Concerned Citizens of Wilbraham. Francis loved boating, fishing, L. L. Bean sportswear and vacationing with his wife at the Woodstock Inn of Vermont and along the Maine coast. He was predeceased by his parents Francis and Victoria (Podkowka) and his sister Elizabeth. He leaves his beloved wife Katherine (Sullivan), aunt Helen Banas, sisters-in-law Christine and Sandra, nephews John, Jerry and Dan, nieces Lisa, Christine and Katherine and 10 grand nephews and nieces. Visitation will be held on Sunday, January 28th from 2-4 pm at Wilbraham Funeral Home, 2551 Boston Rd., Wilbraham. His funeral will be Monday at 9 am from the Wilbraham Funeral Home followed by a Mass at 10 am at St. Cecilia Church, 42 Main St., Wilbraham. Committal will take place at a later date in Gate of Heaven Mausoleum.
