Dr. George H. Nieske, born August 20, 1930, died peacefully at Reeds Landing on May 25. The family thanks the staff in the Skilled Nursing Unit for their excellent care. He is the son of the late Herman C. Nieske and Freda (Lemon) Nieske. He graduated from Classical High School ’48, American International College ’52, and Baltimore College of Dental Surgery, Univ. of MD ’56. He was a Capt. In the U.S. Army Dental Corps at Ft. Bliss, TX until 1958 when he began his dental practice in Wilbraham and retiring in 1996.
He was a past-president of the Men’s Club at Wilbraham United Church. An avid photographer, George was a past board member of the New England Camera Club Council and member of the Photographic Society of America. He lectured and judged at many camera clubs throughout New England. He has exhibited locally, nationally and internationally and received honors for his work in Nature, Scenic, and Black & White photography.
George is survived by his wife of 68 years, Nancy Keller Nieske, and his three sons: David (Rocky Hill, CT), Robert (Waltham, MA) and Craig and his wife Susan (Concord, NC), granddaughters Noelle and Laura, grandson Nicholas Cutler, his sister, Marjorie N. Agerton and his brother, Frederick W. Nieske and his wife Phyllis. A Memorial Service will be held Monday, June 17 at 11:00AM at Wilbraham United Church. The family will receive friends at the church from 10:00 AM until the time of the Service. Wilbraham Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
