Charles Lewis Phillips, III, 69, died unexpectedly on Tuesday, September 29, 2015, at Baystate Medical Center. He was born in Providence, RI to the late Charles and Joyce (Peters) Phillips. He was a 1967 graduate of Bates College, where he earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Biology. He served as a Commander in the US Navy during the Vietnam Era, retiring after 20 years of service. He worked for many years for the Environmental Protection Agency as a Fisheries Biologist for the State of CT. Charles was chairman of the Wilbraham Vision Task Force and a member of Wilbraham Open Space Planning Committee. He leaves his beloved wife of 46 years Cheryl (Holden) Phillips, three sons; David Phillips (Heather Freeman) of Middletown, RI, Eric Phillips (Mary) of Flagstaff, AZ and Matthew Phillips (Julie Regolo) of Mystic, CT, daughter Katie Phillips (Jasper Kor) of Groet, Netherlands, brother Stephen M. Phillips of ME and sister Patricia A. Fuller of NH as well as several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held on Friday, October 9th from 4:00 – 7:00 pm at Wilbraham Funeral Home, 2551 Boston Rd., Wilbraham. Funeral Service will be Saturday, October 10th at 11:00 am at Wilbraham Funeral Home. An hour of visitation will precede the Service on Saturday from 10:00 – 11:00 am.
