Elaine H. (Hemenway) WarrenMarch 16, 1921 ~ November 29, 2017 (age 96)
Elaine H. Warren, 96, went home peacefully to be with the Lord on November 29, 2017. She was the beloved wife of 53 years of the late William K. Warren. Mrs. Warren was a resident of Waterbury, CT, most of her life. She relocated to the American Inn, Southwick in 2005, to Loomis Lakeside at Reeds Landing, Springfield, in early 2014, The Reserve at East Longmeadow in late 2016 and Wingate at Hampden very briefly. Born in Highgate Springs, VT, she was the first child of the late Howard A. and Jennie A. (Hazen) Hemenway. She was predeceased by her brother Orris and infant sister Kathleen.
Mrs. Warren was a graduate of Wilby High School and Perry’s School of Business, both of Waterbury, and the N.Y. School of Interior Design, NYC. She was employed at St. Margaret -McTernan School, Waterbury.
She was a member of the Methodist Church of Waterbury and past–president of Waterbury Women’s Club and Garden Club. She was also a member of Waterbury Hospital Auxiliary and Evergreen Clubs, Flanders Nature Center in Woodbury and United Women of Waterbury Methodist Church. She was an active leader in church and service groups for many years. Among her other interests were bridge, golf, handwork and travel. She had great love for her family and valued her close friendships.
Mrs. Warren leaves her devoted daughter and son-in-law, Sherry and Russell Jack of Wilbraham, MA, and son Kendrick Warren of Thomaston and Morris, CT. Also three dear grandchildren, Stephen Jack and wife Johanna of Spring, TX, Kristin (Jack) McCombe and husband Rev. Burress McCombe of Bridgewater, VA, and Pamela Warren of Northfield, CT. She leaves six sweet great-grandchildren, Caleb, Jennie, Kylie and Colton Jack and Cora and Shay McCombe, as well as seven nieces, a nephew and their families. Her given name Elaine, meaning “light”, has been carried to the fourth maternal generation as middle name of Sherry, Kristin and Shay.
A private committal will be held at Evergreen Cemetery, Watertown CT. Wilbraham Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Friends of the family are cordially invited to celebrate Mrs. Warren’s long, active life at a Christian Memorial Service in the chapel of Springfield Evangelical Covenant Church, 915 Plumtree Rd. on Friday December 15, 2017 at 11:00 am.
