Welcome to the memorial page for

Beatrice D. (McDonnell) Moore

June 14, 1924 ~ November 7, 2017 (age 93)

Beatrice D. Moore (nee McDonnell), born June 14, 1924 in Manchester, Connecticut, passed away at home in East Longmeadow, Massachusetts on November 7, 2017.  She is survived by her children and their spouses, Linda Anne M. and Edmund J. Boutin, Sean and Judith Moore, Robert and Sandra Moore, Timothy and Deborah Moore, and Michael Moore as well as 12 adoring Grandchildren and 11 Great Grandchildren.

She lived a life of love, service, loyalty, and generosity, bestowing those gifts to her family, her friends, her community at Cornerstone Church, and the community at Western New England University, where she worked for many years. She epitomized the quote of success attributed to Ralph Waldo Emerson:

To laugh often and much; to win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children; to earn the appreciation of honest critics and endure the betrayal of false friends; to appreciate the beauty; to find the best in others; to leave the world a bit better, whether by a healthy child, a garden patch or a redeemed social condition; to know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded!

Her gentle spirit enveloped those around her, letting them know that they were valued and loved.  Her faith provided a constant source of strength and guidance for any that knew her.  Her dry wit and twinkling eyes brightened any interaction.  After raising a loving family, to whom she embedded her best qualities and working a second career at the University, Beatrice turned to knitting to share her love with those around her.  Anyone that has received one of her amazing afghans, sweaters, or any of the other innumerable knitting projects, has cherished them as much for the quality of the giver as the quality of the gift.  It would be near impossible to calculate how many family heirlooms she has created or how many individuals she has touched.  For those who knew her, and many that did not, there is no question that she made the world better for having lived.
