Barbara Louise (McLeod) Murphy, 87, of Callender Avenue passed away Tuesday, 7/18/17 at home. She was born in Manchester, NH to the late Allen and Kathryn (Engle) McLeod.  She grew up in Goffstown, NH and settled in Western Mass over 50 yrs. ago. She was a graduate of Concord Hospital School of Nursing and worked as a Registered Nurse at Concord Hospital. After that she worked as an R.N. at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield for many years. She was a committed and dedicated longtime member of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in East Longmeadow. Barbara loved spending time with her entire family and especially enjoyed their frequent trips to York Beach, Maine. She was an avid gardener. She was the beloved widow of George Murphy Sr. who passed away in 1995, loving mother of Pam Gebo and her husband Ron of Ludlow, Melissa Murphy of West Springfield, George Murphy Jr. and his wife Sue of Havertown, PA, Tim and Brian Murphy both of East Longmeadow, and Christopher Murphy of Springfield, devoted grandmother of Christina, Matthew, Andrew, Jennifer, Kristin, John, Molly, Anne, Samantha, Tommy, Kaileigh and Sarah and great grandmother of Benjamin, Harrison and Olivia.  She also leaves many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. Barbara was predeceased by her two brothers, Allen and Donald and her three sisters; Judith, Ellen (her twin), and Susan. There will be a Memorial Funeral Service on Saturday, 7/29/17 at 2pm at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, 1 Porter Road, East Longmeadow followed by a Committal Service at St. Mark’s Memorial Garden at the Church.  A celebration of life will be held in the hall at St. Mark’s Church immediately following the Service for family and friends to gather in remembrance of Barbara. Wilbraham Funeral Home has been entrusted with all arrangements. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
